Long-time Butte College Trustee, Fred Perez, passed away on Friday, June 15 at the age of 83.
Perez served on the Board of Trustees, representing Area VI in Glenn County, for almost twenty years.
“His unequivocal focus has been on the success of our students. He attended every Butte College graduation and every certificate and pinning ceremony he could. His dedication to the college and to his communities was boundless,” said Butte College President, Samia Yaqub.
Perez served as Board President twice and was active on the Butte College Foundation Board. For many years he served on the Foundation committee that planned the annual Spring Gala, the College’s main fundraising event of the year. Fred retired from Orland High School after 24 years of teaching Spanish. He later became a Spanish instructor at Butte College and taught another 10 years. Mr. Perez was active in the Glenn County community with the Orland Kiwanis Club, the Glenn Medical Foundation, and the Glenn County Fair.
